Arthur D. Alfano, 83, of Tewksbury, MA passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017, at his home in the care of his family as was his wish. He celebrated 60 years of marriage to his devoted wife Rosanna (Hurley) Alfano on February 23.
Born in Lowell on November 15, 1933, Art was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Esther Alfano. He graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1951. He proudly served with the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean War.
Art fought in the Golden Gloves, raced stock cars, and built and flew RC model airplanes. He was a lifelong member and past president of the 495th RC Squadron. Arthur retired from Boston Cement Mason Local 534 in 1998.
He was a communicant of St Williams Church in Tewksbury, MA.
In addition to his wife he is survived and will be greatly missed by a son, Arthur D. Alfano Jr. of Tewksbury; a daughter, Donna Graham and Bill Marshall of Nashua, NH; a former daughter-in-law, Belinda Alfano of Tewksbury; precious granddaughters, Sophia and Isabella Alfano; a sister, Joan Berys and her husband Peter of Chelmsford; a sister-in-law, Mary Alfano of Holyoke; a sister-in-law, Chic Lanoue and her husband Rich of Tyngsboro; a sister-in-law Jo Williamson and her husband Don of Tyngsboro, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends.
All who knew him will miss his witty sense of humor and good nature.
Art was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Alfano, a sister, Rita Huffman, a sister-in-law Catherine Hurley, and a nephew, Richie Lanoue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital.
Visiting hours Thurs. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Fri. at 8 A.M. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford. Burial in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery, Tyngsboro. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
