Arthur L. Dufresne Sr., 95, of Chelmsford, formerly of Lowell died Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Belvidere Health Care, Lowell, MA.
He was married to the late Dorothy Dufresne, who died on October 1, 1996.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Harry and Josephine Dufresne.
He proudly served with the U.S. Army in Germany and France during WWII.
Arthur owned and operated Arthur’s Paradise Diner and Arthur’s Restaurant of Lowell.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford, MA.
Arthur owned racing horses and was a member of the United Trotting Association. He enjoyed going to the horse races. Arthur was a family man, and loved spending time with his children, grand and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Arthur Jr. and his wife, Jeannine Dufresne of Lowell, James and his wife, Cynthia Dufresne of Groveland, MA and John Dufresne and his companion, Sally Millar of Westminster, MA; daughter, Mary Jo Dufresne of Scarborough, ME and her spouse, Lisa Krom; sister, Doris Nobrega of Derry, NH; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; twelve great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Henry Dufresne, Agnes Julian and Laura Dufresne.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and employees of both Belvidere Healthcare Center of Lowell and The Atrium of Drum Hill for the love and care he received by all.
Visiting hours Mon., May 3, 2021 from 4 to 8 P.M. Funeral Service Tues., May 4, 2021 at 9:30A.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. My sincere condolences. In the early 70s I would stop by for breakfast before headed to work. Some mornings inward with my Dad and uncles. You were a great guy, cook and will be truly missed. Sending prayers for the family.
