Aurore “Ora” M. (Laforge) Manahan, 99, of N. Chelmsford died at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday morning, April 16, 2018.
She was married to the late Walter Manahan, who died on August 12, 1987.
Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Achilles and Emilieanna Laforge.
Aurore was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Aurore enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles, and bingo.
She was a member of the League of Catholic Women and a founding member of the Chelmsford Senior Center.
Aurore was a proud longtime resident of North Chelmsford.
She is survived by her children, Louise and her husband, Richard Guillmette of Hudson, NH, Walter and his wife, Wanett Manahan of Rogersville, TN, Roger Manahan of Springfield; Susan and her husband, Raymond Fratus of Chelmsford, Anita and her husband, Gordan Nicoll of Hudson, NH, Michael Manahan and his companion, Kim Tanzilli of Dunstable and Charles and his wife, Helen Manahan of Chelmsford; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; seventeen great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Robert Manahan, David Manahan, Mark Manahan and Patricia Vellrath and the sister of the late Anna Vallerand and Alice Mailloux.
Visiting hours Wed. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Thurs. at 8AM from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9AM at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in her name to the Chelmsford Friends of the Senior Center, Inc., 75 Groton Rd. N. Chelmsford, MA 01863. To all Ora’s family,
I am sorry to hear that one of my best friends from high school has passed away. We had a lot of fun in high school. She had a good personality, was full of fun and always liked a good joke. She and Bud were good friends to my husband and I after we were married. We both had large families – she 11 and I, 9 kids and we loved them all and had fun with them.
Sorry to see her go, the second of my best friends to go. I am the last one of us living. I’ll be 99 on April 25th. I have many good thoughts of her and will never forget her. I am living in Vermont now so will not be able to attend services. Wish I could be there.
