Avit Robert “Bob” Dostaler, 84, beloved husband of the late Marilyn M. (Molloy) Dostaler, formerly of Chelmsford died in Northampton, MA on June 19, 2018 with loved ones by his side.

A lover of life and family, Bob is survived by his devoted children, Robert A. Dostaler of Bennington, NH, Marilou Brown of Appleton, WI, Corrie Tamburro of Northampton, MA and Kristina Germano of Rindge, NH, his sons in law, Glenn Brown, Patrick Tamburro and John Germano and his grandchildren, Nicholas Dostaler and his partner, Elizabeth Smullen, Robert J. Dostaler and his wife Amanda, Nathaniel Dostaler, Chelsey Brown of Minneapolis, MN, Laney Brown, Ben Germano and Lily Germano, and great grandson, Carter. He also leaves behind his brother and sister in law, Forrest and Carolyn Dostaler of Dracut, MA and many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Bob is predeceased by his grandson, his “buddy”, Jake Germano who died in October 2017 and, by his parents, Avit Romeo and Mildred (Rock) Dostaler.

After graduating Lowell High School in 1951, he went on to graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Animal Husbandry from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. From 1954 to 1958, he served with pride in the US Coast Guard.

Bob was a third generation owner of Dostaler’s Market in Lowell and an active member of his community as a past member of the Lafayette Club in Lowell, the Chelmsford Elks, 4-H and a past president of the Chelmsford Lions Club. Even after his retirement from Demoulas Markets in 1993, he would always be the first to sign up to organize community celebrations right up until this year, he was President of the Residence Council in his community at Christopher Heights of Northampton.

He was gregarious, kind and honest and made friends everywhere he went. Bob was loyal and hard-working and expected the same from others. You always knew where you stood with him. His determination, perseverance and tenacity were matched only by his sense of humor and love and devotion to his wife of 58 years and his family.

Bob is at peace with his darling Marilyn, but will be profoundly missed by so many.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate his life at a Mass at St. Rita’s Church, 158 Mammoth Road in Lowell, MA on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11AM. Arrangements by Dolan Funeral Home, North Chelmsford, 978-251-4041.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Monadnock Adult Care Center, C/O Monadnock Family Services, 64 Main St. Keene, NH 03431
