Claire J. Fontaine, 55, of Lowell, MA died due to a brief, unexpected illness, on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital. She died in the arms of her devoted wife, with her family by her side.
She was married to Karen Merluzzi, with whom she recently celebrated their 10th year anniversary. They were a happy family with their two feline sons, Babie and Blackie.
Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rita (Lausier) Fontaine. She graduated from Tyngsboro High School; class of 1977 with a Basketball Scholarship to college. Claire graduated from Newbury College in Brookline, MA with a degree in Business Management.
Claire was employed at BAE Systems of Nashua, NH as a Quality Assurance Inspector. She had previously worked for 26 years at Sipex Corporation of Billerica, MA, where she held various management positions.
Claire enjoyed jogging, boating, fresh water fishing, traveling, watching TV and movies. In her younger years, she was an outstanding softball and basketball player.
She was an avid New England Patriot fan.
Besides her spouse, she is survived by two sisters, Theresa Fontaine of Billerica, MA and Gloria and her husband, Robert Hogue of Tyngsboro, MA; three brothers, Philip and his wife, Sandy Fontaine, of Tyngsboro, MA, Ernest and his wife, Cheryl Fontaine of Fitchburg, MA and Henry and his wife, Janet Fontaine of Dunstable; Father-in-law, Marty and his wife Margie Merluzzi of Palm Beach, FL; Four nieces, Rebecca, Sara, Jessie and Crystal; two nephews, Ernest, and Steven; one great-niece, Alyssa.
She was the sister of the late Michael Fontaine.
