Clayton L. Dearth, 84, of Amesbury, MA formerly of Seabrook, NH, Westford, MA and Lowell, MA died Monday June 12, 2017 at Merrimack Valley Health Center in Amesbury, MA.

He was married to Beverly J. Dearth with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 4.

Born in Chelmsford, he was the son of the late Asa and Abigail Dearth.

He proudly served as a Corporal for six years with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Clayton was the Cemetery Commissioner for the Town of Westford for many years. He worked for the Westford Highway Department, Fire Department and Special Police Department.

He worked as a Cook for BJ’s Diner in Westford, as a driver for the Marinel and Buckingham Bus Company, Lahey Trucking in Littleton, Mill Rite at Raytheon of Lowell and Bedford, Happy Hudson Paper Box, A&P Coorigated Box Co., and was a member of the Dolan Funeral staff for ten years. His first job was at Dolly’s Diner in Westford as a dishwasher.

Clayton was a very active member of the community. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite with the Littleton Tahattawan Masonic Temple A.F. and A.M., Aleppo Shriner, active with the Transportation Unit, Escort to Grand Officer, Past Patron and member of the Eastern Star, Ayer, MA, Advisory Board (“Dad”) of International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Ayer, MA, past president and member of Kiwanis Club of Westford, MA, Officer and member of Odd Fellows in Newburyport, MA and Past Commander of DAV.

He enjoyed listening to country music and building model railroads.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Lawrence “Larry” and his wife, Cathi-Jo Dearth of Rapid City, SD; daughter, Darlene and her husband, Charles M. Doucot IV of Rowley, MA; brother-in-law, Carlton and his wife, Helen Rooks of Westford; two sisters-in-law, Karen Ann Rooks of CT and Thelma Dearth of Riverside, CA; four grandchildren, Danielle Doucot, Gabrielle Doucot, Brandi Dearth and Joshua Dearth; three great grandchild, Gavin Dearth, Areala Dearth and Micah Dearth and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Donald Dearth of Lowell and Joyce DeWalt of CA. and Freeman Dearth of Riverside, CA

Visitation Thursday from 1 to 2:00 p.m. at the grave with a Graveside service at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, corner of Tadmuck and Main St Westford, MA.

Memorial services will be announced and held at a later date at the Trinity Episcopal Church 200 High St. Hampton, NH 03842.

    Sending prayers and Big Hugs to the family during this difficult time .Uncle Clayton was one of my favorite Uncle’s and even though we lost touch after my moms death I have a lot of special memories of him . He will be missed dearly. My sincere condolences to the family❤️

    I am sorry to hear about your loss . Your father was a very loving man and always shared a smile . Your mom and dad were apart of my life for a very long time and we’re truly missed at meals on wheels in seabrook when they left.
