Constance “Connie” Waaramaa, of Nashua NH, and formerly of Dracut, MA, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, surrounded by her family after a brief illness at the age of 88.

Connie was born on February 25, 1936 in Fitchburg, MA, the daughter of the late Einar H. Anderson and Mae K. (Houlberg) Anderson.  She was raised and educated in Leominster, MA along with her brother, the late Einar “Andy” Anderson of Middleburg, Florida.

Connie worked in several jobs over the years but her true devotion was to her faith, family and friends.  She put her faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and devotedly served Him all of her life – first at Highland Baptist Church (Fitchburg, MA), then at Immanuel Baptist Church (Lowell-Chelmsford, MA) and finally at the Tyngsboro Evangelical Congregational Church (Tyngsboro, MA).  She was involved in many ministries throughout the years, serving as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, youth group leader, missions committee chairperson, and Operation Christmas Child coordinator well into her 80’s.  She also spent many years leading the Pioneer Girls program and serving as a board member for Camp Cherith in Maine, seeking to spread her love and hope in Jesus to young people throughout New England and beyond.

She was the beloved wife of Jack B. Waaramaa with whom she shared 33 years of marriage, from 1956 until his passing in in 1989, and the devoted mother of Christine “Tina” Leskouski of Bedford, MA and Eric “Rick” Waaramaa (Leigh Ann) of Melrose, MA.  While Jack traveled the world on his many trips for the Air Force Geophysics Lab, Connie held down the fort at home, not only loving and supporting her own children but also serving as a second mother for many of their friends.  To Connie, everyone was treated like family.  The door was always open and the coffee was always ready – for anyone who wanted to stop in, enjoy her company and share in her love for life.

In 2000 she was blessed to become part a new family, marrying James “Jim” Kinney of Merrimack, NH with whom she shared 15 years of marriage until his passing in 2015. She is survived by James Kinney (Heather) of San Diego, CA, Edward Kinney (Susan) of Pembroke, NH and Susan McNamara (Christopher) of Amherst, NH.

Connie also leaves behind lasting memories for 5 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom she also loved and cared for dearly.  She will be remembered for her humble nature, her quiet strength and her servant’s heart – dedicating her entire life to God and her family.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor and remembrance of Connie for visiting hours on Friday June 21st from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex Street, Chelmsford, MA.  A funeral service celebrating Connie’s life will be held on Saturday June 22nd at 11:00 AM at the Tyngsboro Evangelical Congregational Church, 23 Kendall Road, Tyngsboro, MA with interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford, MA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Connie can be made to Operation Christmas Child (OCC), or consider packing an OCC shoebox of gifts to help bring joy and the Good News of Jesus to children in need around the world.

Sharing your sorrow of Connie’s departure from her earthly life. But more importantly sharing your joy that you will be reunited in heaven in God’s timing. Connie’s faithfulness over so many years while investing in the lives of campers and staff through the ministry of NECC is a true legacy of merit. Whenever I remember her, I see her with a smile on her face doing whatever role she took on as a member of the camp Program Committee, cabin counselor, or support staff. All of those memories are full of joy.

Connie was so loved at Camp Cherith! She wasn’t just Tina’s mom, she was always there for the girls. I remember thinking that Tina was so lucky to have a mom that quietly adored her while also letting her shine.
