David Ferreira, 76, of Tyngsboro Massachusetts passed peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at home with his loving family at his side. David was originally from a family of 11 in Lowell Ma. and was the son of the late Norbert and Ethel (Sousa) Ferreira. David was the beloved husband of Ruth Gail (Ward) Ferreira of 52 years. Besides his wife Ruth, David is survived by his daughter Colleen Ferreira of Tyngsboro Ma., his son David W. Ferreira, his wife Heather Ferreira and his two precious grandchildren, Hadley Gail Ferreira and Iain James David Ferreira, all of New Haven CT. David’s siblings Elaine Cocanis, Marie Mac Fadgen, Theresa Collins, cousin Mary Drummond of California and many extended family members also survive David. He was the brother of the late Ethel Ryan, Hilda Hartford, Norbert Ferreira, Deolinda Jodoin, and Julie Ferreira.
David attended the Butler Middle School in Lowell and Lowell High School. David was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Lowell and St. Mary Magdalen Church in Tyngsboro. David was a barber by trade and owned and operated Chuck’s Barber Shop in Concord Ma. for 20 years. Before his retirement, he also spent 10 years as a barber at Chuck’s Barber Shop in Nashua, NH. David was also a former member of the Elks and Knights of Columbus and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and France where he proudly served his country from 1964 to 1966.
David was an avid New England sports fan. He loved the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots and was also a huge fan of boxing. In his youth he played baseball for Saint Anthony’s League in Lowell. David also enjoyed being outdoors. Fishing and golfing were some of his favorite hobbies. He loved music of the 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s and singing with family and friends was one of his favorite pastimes.
Mostly, David loved his family and spending time with them, surrounded by good food, good music and loved ones.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Elder Services of Merrimack Valley and VNA Hospice Care. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. So sorry to hear about uncle Dave. We will miss him. I have so many good memories of him, more like an older brother than an uncle. I used to see him a lot when I was growing up and hanging at Vovo and Pa’s house, precious good times. My condolences.

My love and prayers are with all of you. David and Nobby were always supporting me and my family during many a process. You never forget strong support and advocacy.
