Dorothy F. (Lally) Fay, 70, of N. Chelmsford, MA, died Saturday March 11, 2017 after a long illness.
Born in Lowell on Feb. 24, 1947, she was the daughter of the late John and Eileen Lally. She was raised in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School in 1964. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Lowell State Teachers College in 1968.
Dottie worked as a Math Teacher for the Lowell Public Schools at the Rogers & Butler Middle Schools for many years. She also previously taught at St. Margaret’s School in Lowell. She was the co-owner of the family business, “Faysway”, that operated for many years out of the Boott Mill in Lowell.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She very much enjoyed reading, going to the beach and listening to rock and roll.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Brett, Kelly A. and her precious baby doll, Morgan Fay of N. Chelmsford, MA and Chad and Kelly S. Fay of Beverly, MA who have another granddaughter on the way; her sister Barbara Masse of Lowell, MA; her sister in-law, Sheila Lally of Lowell, MA; many nieces and nephews whom she cherished; a special nephew and dearest friend, Stephen Masse of Dracut, MA. She was predeceased by her brother, John Lally of Lowell.
Visiting hours are Thurs. 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 Middlesex St. Chelmsford, MA Funeral from the funeral home Friday at 10 AM with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church 115 Middlesex St. N. Chelmsford, MA 01863. Burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Circle Home Health & Hospice Care 847 Rogers St. Suite 201, Lowell, MA 01852. Brett and Chad; You couldn’t have had a more dedicated and devoted Mom. You both were her life. She was so proud of you. And, then came her Morgan – God blessed her with time spent with her adored grandchild. Bruce and I send our most sincere condolence. May all of your memories bring you peace.

Kelly, Brett, Morgan, Kelly and Chad,
Our hearts break for all of you. Dottie was, and forever will be, such a huge part of Sarah, Parker, Colby and me. We will forever cherish and hold the memories of spending time at the beach, some holidays, many birthdays, and the loads of nights by the fire pit just sitting and chatting with her. May the thought of her no longer feeling sick, and the idea that she is dancing in Heaven with her brother, provide all of you with some comfort. My sister,brother in law, and precious niece Morgan- we love you tons and please know that Nana Dottie is forever looking down upon all of you and smiling. You have all made her a proud mother and nana.

Thank you to Brett, Kelly, Morgan, Chad, Kelly and the new life. Your support for your mother, Dottie, has made me extremely proud. She loved her sons more than life itself. Your support was her strength.
Care givers Brett, Kelly, and Morgan you have sacrificed three and a half years of your lives. Kelly you are the anchor who has kept it together. You have my respect and love. Morgan you will always be her happy place. She always found joy in her baby doll.
This is for the new life who is about to bring us joy. Know that your Nana waited for you as long as she could.

Dear Brett and Chad,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was one of my closest and dearest friends. When I heard of your Mom passing this past Friday, my heart stopped and I had to sit down and take it all in, because we had shared so much together over the years. It all started back in 1963 when your Mom, Johnny Baranowski and I worked together in the Marketing Room of The Bon Marche Department Store in Lowell along with Ann (Rousseau) Wilk and Nancy (Irwin) Wormwood. We all shared so many moments together while we worked side by side in the store. Over the years Dottie and I remained very close, sharing things only the closest of friends do. I also became very close with John, who together gave the world two great kids in the both of you. Your mom always put me in my place when it was needed, and always praised my accomplishments when I achieved them. I will miss those 2 hour phone calls when I needed someone to talk to. We have shared many a beer together, and swapped a lifetime of activities, from causing havoc at Bon Marche, attending Lowell State Dances, eating Market Street Subs at 1:00am, to trying to achieve bragging rights on who had the darkest tan each summer. We both loved the beach, and spent many a day sharing a blanket on the sands at Hampton. I was always there for her, and she was always there for me. As you know, over the past few years she has suffered more than words can describe, and it is nice to know she will suffer no more. A piece of my heart died to last Friday, but the memories we shared will last forever. I just want the two of you to know, you had the best Mom, and she loved you two very much. When ever we shared a phone call over the years, she always started off our conversations talking about the two of you, and what was going on in your lives. I will dearly miss your Mom. Auntie, until we meet again….be assured each time I am allowed to eat a seafood dinner or fish-and-chips at a Weathervane, or crack fresh lobster
with hot butter at Christmastime or see someone enjoying a nice shrimp cocktail or Cosmo martini, I will see your face and remember our good times.
We all talk about how well you breathe now that you have gone…but I actually believe it…I know it…and you are now with your mom who missed for so many years.
You are now with your dad, with whom you shared a special bond…and you are also there with your big brother, who I am sure will enjoy your being there as much as you will enjoy him again. We will all be together at some point…I know that..but know that you will not be forgotten, and all your pain and suffering will be distant to us..we will remember only the best…..Take care, watch over all of us, and work on that Power Ball thing :):):)
