Edmond J. Bangura Sr., 72, of Leicester, MA formerly of
22B Blackhall Road, Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa died at his daughter’s home in Lowell surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday evening, November 23, 2016.
He was married to the late Hawa-Maria Bangura, who died on May 15, 2000.
Born in Sierra Leone, he was the son of the late Allie and Iye Bangura.
Edmond came to the USA in 1992 and proudly became a citizen in 2003. He graduated from Lowell High School Adult Education and attended UMASS Lowell pursuing a degree in Political Science. Edmond was a R.N. and a Pharmacist in Sierra Leone.
He had previously worked with disabled children in California.
He was a communicant of St. Margaret Church in Lowell and St. Martin’s Parish Church in Sierra Leone.
He is survived by his three daughters, Florence Boateng of Tyngsboro and her husband Chris Boateng of Ghana, Melrose and her husband, Martin Lahood of Leicester, MA and Lovetta and her husband, Emile Worley of Lowell; two sons, David and his wife, Claudia Bangura of Tyngsboro and Edmond and his wife, Ella Bangura of Manchester, NH; 4 brothers, Rahman Mustapha Bangura of VA, Adama, Yaebu and Mohamed Michael Bangura; fourteen grandchildren, Fatmata Thollie and her partner, Sylvanus Kabba, Eustace Conjoh, Edmond, Marion, and Melvin Worley; Melrose Bangura; David Jr.,Nadiv, Hawa, Halle Bangura; Martin and Meltin Lahood; Edmond III, and Ethan Bangura. Two great grandchildren Michael Kabba and Nevaeh Bangura, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends at home and aboard.
He was the father of the late Marion Bangura-Conjoh wife of Tommy Conjoh of Texas and brother of the late James, Junisa, Iye, HajahHawa, Namina, Mohamed, Hassan and Abu Bangura
Visiting hours Thurs. 4 to 8 P.M. Funeral Fri. at 9am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10am at St. Margaret Church in Lowell. Burial in the Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell. Memorials may be made in his name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611. Words can’t express how much he meant to me. Uncle inspired me to work very hard and not taking things for granted. Uncle is fun to be around, he is the greatest and will be missed by the Bangura family.
