Elizabeth “Betty” A. McPhillips, 79, of Lowell died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus.
Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Elizabeth W. McPhillips. She graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro with the class of 1955.
Betty retired from the IRS in Andover. She had previously worked throughout the greater Lowell area in the banking industry.
She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church and a member of the Legion of Mary.
Betty was a proud lifelong resident of Lowell.
She enjoyed traveling around the world with her sister. Hawaii was her favorite location.
Betty was a devoted caretaker to her sister. She willingly volunteered for many charitable organizations.
She is survived by her sister, Catherine “Cathy” M. McPhillips and mny close friends.

Cathy I am so sorry to hear about Betty. You were both great coworkers. I remember driving behind Betty and thinking it looks like there is no one driving the car, she was so little behind the wheel. And her telling me how she was stopped on her way out one day by the guard for speeding – 2 miles over the speed limit. Lol Good memories. Brenda
