I worked as a Correction Officer with Francis at MCI, Framingham. I affectionately called him “Pappy”. We remained friends for 52 years. There couldn’t be a nicer man.
He will be missed. My condolences to his family.
Rest in Peace my friend

Mr. Miskell was affectionately known as “Buttons” to the Dumont family. Only because so many people “did not have all their buttons”. He and his family were good friends for well over 50 years. He was our mailman on Saturdays, the unofficial mayor of Vinyl Square, and our favorite Irishman. His door was always open, and his greetings were always started with a roar, but that’s who he was. I will always remember the Irish tams he wore on his head, his beloved cable knit sweater, stealing the “first” tomato from his garden, Fife & Drum trips with a lot of laughter. I remember he was the first one brave enough to take me driving on the road with my permit in his white station wagon that seated about 20. There was always a seat at his table, lively discussions and A LOT of laughs.
They say an Irishman is never gone, if he is not forgotten. And this holds true for our dear Buttons. Today we weep because we lost a friend, but the angels rejoice because they have received a brother.
I love you forever Buttons and all my wishes for Shaun, Becky, Mary, Bob, Genie, Joe, Cyndi and all the grands and greats.

My Dear Miskell Family,
You have my sincere and heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your Patriarch and my friend, “Buttons.” You are so fortunate to have had him for as many years as you did. In his very own Miskell fashion, he could be both cantankerous and lovable almost at the same time, but always a quick wit and a sharp greeting for all. He will never be forgotten, and we will never cease to miss his always pointed remarks or his very own Miskell smile.
Rest well my friend, Ada

That sums up perfectly who the one and only Francis “Buttons” Miskell was. A classic broke the mold man if ever there was one.

My dad was Richard Flynn. He was a cousin of your father. I always enjoyed going with my dad to visit the Miskells on North Groton Rd. I believe one of you had gone to Ireland and made my dad so happy when you gave him pictures of his cousins and the land where my grandmother grew up. Sending you warm hugs at this very sad time.
