In loving memory of Frederick “Fred” J. Lord, Jr., 90, of Woodstock, GA formerly of Lynn, MA a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and esteemed Navy veteran who departed from this world on February 13, 2024.  His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, yet his legacy of honor, love and kindness will continue to shine brightly.

Fred was born on July 24, 1933, in Boston, MA, the son of Frederick J. and Alice (Snell) Lord Sr.  He attended Lynn Classical High School with the class of 1951.

As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country by serving 20 years in the United States Navy, a journey that would take him to distant shores and forge lifelong bonds with his fellow servicemen.

Upon retiring from the Navy, Fred enjoyed a career as a Master Chef that took him to different parts of the United States and as far away as Egypt. Fred even prepared a dinner for Queen Elizabeth II during one of her visits to the U.S.  Fred was known to generously share his culinary creations with friends and family who were happy to partake.  His lobster rolls were so delicious he was affectionately referred to as the “Lobster Lord.”

In addition to cooking for friends and family, Fred enjoyed Irish music.  He and his dear friend, Paddy Grace, could often be found enjoying a pint in an Irish pub while listening to their favorite Irish tunes.

Fred’s greatest joy came from his role as a grandfather to his six beloved grandchildren. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent together.

In his later years, Fred was blessed with the arrival of three precious great-grandchildren. Their laughter and innocence brought joy and warmth to his heart, and he treasured the time spent watching them grow and thrive.

Fred is survived by three daughters, Lt. Gov. MA Kim and her husband, Nick Driscoll of Salem, MA; Chrystal and her husband Jack Stachura of Woodstock, GA; and, Lori Lord of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a sister, Maryanne and her husband Jack Ryan of Westford, MA;  grandchildren, Tatyana and her husband, Joe; Delaney; Rolando III; Ailish; Ryan; Nicholas; three great-grandchildren, Camden, Kylan, and Mila and nieces, Terry Colen of Nottingham, NH and Patrice and her husband, Jim Dolan of Chelmsford, MA as well as a great nephew and several great nieces.

He was the father of the late Saralee Ann Lord of Falls Church, VA who died January 24, 2023.

Though Fred may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his selflessness, and the love he shared with those around him. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be forever missed.

Kim – we’re in Ireland but will be thinking of Freddy. We had many good times with our pal. A Novena of Masses has been said for him at the Augustinian Cathedral in Galway.

To Fred – fair winds and following seas!
