Dear Sue, Donald, and all the Camacho Extended Family, I just heard about Gary’s passing (Wed. 6/14/23), and I am so very sorry…both for my tardiness in writing but mostly for your loss. I had no idea Gary was even sick. My heart goes out to all of you. I have such fond memories and chuckles of talking with Gary whenever I was at your Mom’s, or even over the phone. We just visited Anita & John at St. Patrick’s over Memorial Day weekend, and would never have thought that Gary would be joining them within days. My sincere sympathy and love to you all.

    Dear Sue & Don,

I was literally shocked to hear an hour ago about Gary’s passing. And so, so saddened to find out I missed the funeral. I wish I had known. The Camachos and Dumonts go way back. So please accept my heartfelt condolences.

I have so many memories of Gary, how could I not, being his sisters best friend growing up. I remember Gary coming over with his mud gang, led by Billy Hawley and taking a dip in our pool. One day he got pushed in, dungarees and all, and had to dry his jeans on the pool fence as he was so worried they got wet! I remember learning of Alice Cooper because of Gary. His room (closet, really) was off of his sister Sue’s. “No More Mr. Nice Guy” & “School’s Out” was always playing.

Like many others, I ran into him at Hannafords all the time. He always took the time to talk and catch up with you. He genuinely would ask about my mom and family, and then inevitably we would talk Boston Sports…..the good, the bad, the ugly.

Your folks referred to him as the Peter Pan of the family. He was a good soul and he will be missed. My thoughts go out to the Camachos and Johnstones. I have no doubt he is the newest passenger on a bus driven by Big Dan through the streets of heaven.

    Love Always,
    Sheryl

I just learned today of Gary’s passing. We worked together going back to Alexander’s and I caught up with him every time I saw him at Hannafords. Gary was one of the most genuine people I’ve known. He had a kind heart and amazing memory for details. My condolences to his entire family. He talked of you often and he will be greatly missed.
