5851 BoucherGilbert E. Boucher, 78, of Oakham, MA formerly of Chelmsford, died Sunday August 7, 2016, at UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester after a long illness.

He was married to Louise Brandon with whom he would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary this January 27th.

Born in Lowell, on June 21, 1938 he was the son of the late Rudolph and Eva Boucher. He attended grade school in Lowell.

Gilbert was mechanic for over 40 years before switching careers to work another 13 years for Hanscom Airforce Base in the auto body Shop. He retired to Deltona, Florida for the winters, and Lake Dean Campground in Oakham, MA for the summer, where he had many friends and fond memories.

Gilbert loved his children and took pride in teaching them how to fix their own cars.

He was communicant of St. Patrick Church of Holden, MA.

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Gilbert “Gilly” Boucher Jr. and his wife, Deborah of Winterpark, FL, Eric “Ricky” Boucher and his partner, Kristine Timm of N. Chelmsford, and Randy Boucher and his wife, Jodi of Lowell; daughters, Donna Obdens and her partner, Steve Leo of Dracut, Karen Boucher O’Rourke of N. Chelmsford, and Heidi and her husband, Robert “Bob” Collins of Pelham, NH; Stepsons, William Brandon of Dracut, and Daniel Brandon of Wilton, NH; brothers, Rudolph and his wife Toni Boucher of Pepperell, and Richard and his wife, Maureen Boucher of NH, a sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” and her husband, Roger Gregoire of Pepperell; 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was the step father of the late Robert and James Brandon.

Visiting hours are Friday 9AM to 11AM followed by a funeral service at 11AM in the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.

    To the entire Boucher and Brandon families, I am so sorry for your loss. Gil was like a dad to me for a really long time and I will never forget what a great man he was! And he was the best “Papa” ever! Me, Eric and Kurt will miss him dearly!

    Gil was my favorite mechanic and a dear sweet man who always had time for my cars and my family. We wish him peace and love from the Kimball girls Janice Lisa and Amy, myself and my two youngest girls Jennifer and Stephanie. He was a wonderful man and he is going to leave a huge hole in a lot of people’s hearts. God speed my friend. And Louise, I am so very sorry for your loss . He was one of the best in the world
