Gloria L. (Shorette) Robertson, 88, of Groton passed away with her loving husband Norman by her side. She was married to Norman R. Robertson with whom she celebrated their seventy first wedding anniversary on November 11, 2017.

Born in Oakland, ME, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Dorothy Shorette.

Gloria retired from the Food Service Department at the Groton Dunstable Regional High School.

She was a member of Christian Union Congregation Church in West Groton.

Gloria was a member of the Alpine Square Dancing Club, the Merry Makers of Groton, the Groton Grange and the Rebekah’s. She enjoyed spending time at Brant Rock Beach in Marshfield, picking up sea glass, shopping and going out to lunch with her sisters.

Besides her husband she is survived by her sons, Norman “Bud” Robertson of Groton and his fiancé, Judith Buckley of Billerica, Dale Robertson and his companion, Lisa Ellis of Townsend; daughters, Jean and her husband, George Bailey of Barrington, NH and Debra Gillette of Chelmsford and her companion Bob Reed of Dracut; brothers, Richard Shorette of FL, John and his wife, Jane Shorette of Ware, MA, George and his wife, Nancy Shorette of Monson, MA and Robert and his wife, Sally Shorette of Sarasota, FL; sister, Carolyn and her husband, Edward Sullivan of Somers, CT; Gerry Hill; Richard Rogers and his wife Harriet Rogers;  eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother-in-law of the late Robert Gillette, the sister of the late Leroy Shorette, Eleanor Fowler and Virginia Thursby and the grandmother of the late Edward Thompson.

    Gloria was one of my favorite people on the planet. My friends and I visited her house and family often when we were in High School. Condolences to her wonderful family . She was a wonderful bright soul and I am grateful I knew her. I’m sorry , words cannot express how I feel right now.

    We are so very sorry to hear of Gloria’s passing. I stopped up to see her 2 weeks ago and her and Norman were sitting in the hallway holding hands. What a great memory I now have. Sending peaceful prayers to everyone.

    So sorry for your loss. Gloria was a fun loving lady. She was the best mother in law. Spent many days with her at Brant Rock picking sea glass and walking the beach. She was a wonderful grandmother. I will cherish all my memories with her and Norm for they were apart of my life for many years. Hugs to Norm and I will be praying for the family?

    I am so sorry for your loss. I have many happy memories of her with all of us at the Christian Union Church. She also helped my Mom ,Flossie Kaddy, with the lunches at Tarbell School sometimes . I bought a bird feeder and a wooden flower from them a couple of summers ago and had a nice visit with them when I did.

    I just saw this in the paper- I am so sad to hear this. Our deepest condolences to your family and to your dad. We love having them as our Neighbors. I am going to miss hearing your mom’s laugh and talking to her in the yard. She was also so nice and caring to my boys growing up.
