Ida, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Sunday September 27, 2020 at the Atrium in Chelmsford after a 5-year battle with Alzheimers. Ida was born October 30, 1932 to Horace & Domenica Corsaro in Brooklyn, NY.  Ida attended Lafayette High School and enjoyed her youth at Coney Island.  She went on to be an Executive Secretary with Texaco Aviation for 20yrs.  Ida married Frederick Roamer in 1960 and then settled in Eltingville, Staten Island for nearly 50 years.  During this time, she became a Secretary at the NY Public Schools spending most of her 15+ year career at PS16.  She raised two adoring children, Robert and Susan, and was always involved in the PTA, including PS55 Treasurer, or in the stands cheering them on.  She enjoyed current events leading to lively debates around the dinner table and letters advocating her thoughts to public officials.  She avidly supported protecting the environment, endangered species, St Jude Children’s Research and was a member of Holy Child Church.

Always vibrant and energetic, Ida never let her physical ailments hinder her many interests. In her later years, she spent much time enjoying her love of watercolor painting, opera, reading and renewed lessons in piano and the Italian language – making cherished friendships along the way. She treasured her Italian heritage from history to genealogy to carrying on the culture within her family. For Ida, family was everything, friends were family, and all were warmly welcomed and fed with love. She enjoyed many cruises with Fred and “The Cousins Club” throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Alaska, as well as vacationing in the mountains of upstate New York. She cherished her evenings sitting outside talking with her beloved friends and neighbors on Rankin Street.

In 2018 she settled in Chelmsford MA to be near her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her devoted husband Fred of 60yrs, her two loving children Robert Roamer and Susan Dandaraw, and their spouses Cindy Haddad and Bob Dandaraw and four grandchildren Ryan, Jack, Kayla and Mason.

Services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to:
