James P. King of Lowell, MA

James “Jim” Philip King, 86, of Lowell, MA, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 2, 2023.

He was married to Carole (Sorenson) King with whom he had recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 20th.

Born in Keighley, Yorkshire, England, he was the son of the late Arthur King and the late Agnes (Finn) King.

James graduated from Westford Academy High School. He is a graduate of Lowell Tech with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

He retired from Riley Stoker of Worcester, MA and previously worked at Teledyne of Waltham, MA.

James was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

He was a founder, board member, coach and referee for Lowell Youth Soccer. He was a lifelong fan of the Premier League Manchester United team and an avid New England sports fan.

Jim was the definition of a true gentleman and family man and truly loved by his family and friends.

Besides his wife Carole, he is survived by his son Paul King and his wife Helen of Andover, MA; his daughters Christine and her husband Frank Smith of Salem, NH, Jennifer and her husband Paul Murphy of Sandwich, MA, Joanna and her husband Scott Gavriel of Tyngsboro, MA, Kathleen and her husband Michael Manning of Medford, MA; his sisters Virginia and Bob Holt and Catherine and George Rancourt; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, Mickie and her late husband Jerry Dumont and Kathy and Billy Gianis, David and Bonnie Sorenson, Robert and Lynn Sorenson, Michael Sorenson and Ursula Carl; twelve grandchildren Alexa Smith, Michael Smith, Caitlyn Murphy, Lily Murphy, Autumn King, Marin King, Ashley King, Tyler Gavriel, Jack Gavriel, Charlie Manning, Andrew Manning, and Marisa Manning; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

James Philip King, Lowell died Thursday, November 2, 2023. Visiting hours Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 3-7PM at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX STREET, N. CHELMSFORD, MA. Funeral Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 10AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Lowell.  Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
