I just read your comments for Jean. Thank you so much for our family. Wake yesterday and Mass today were very beautiful and well attended. Jean throughout the years was most interested in the family and her religion. I have been so blessed to have had Jean as my wife and the raising of our children. Kind words and help to each other throughout the years have always been present. I will miss her greatly.

      Regards, Uncle Jim

I love Nanas… Especially my own. And I’ll have you know, if you couldn’t tell, I was spoiled by mine… Oh forgive me, she would say, not spoiled, we were “pampered”. We loved to laugh and to treat ourselves, one of my fondest memories growing up were Tuesday Nights, after ballet class. If my homework was done, and even sometimes if it was “almost” done, I could watch JAG, our favorite TV show while we did our pedicures. 8:00 would come around and that theme song, would get our toes wiggling. Pop would come in with our hot chocolate with marshmallows and we would chat about my day. Nana was always comforting, fun, and so serene. She was never flustered or was annoyed by my questions. She always let me bend her ear, with a warming heart and diplomatic answer to all my life’s trials and tribulations. She nurtured my soul and dressed it in courage, kindness and lace. She was selfless and endlessly encouraging.

My Nana consistently reminded me to, “Shoot for the moon, because even if I fell short, I’d be amongst the stars.” I didn’t entirely realize it then, but I already was because I was among her. She had a luster and a glow that was undeniable. Although, she was able to convince my graduating grandfather not to buy her a diamond for their proposal, because her skin was too pale to show the sparkle, knowing that she didn’t need the bling, just his unconditional commitment of love and affection. In growing up, I was blessed to be introduced to a real life love story and it was a pleasure to be a witness of their undying admiration and affection. I aspire to lead a life in her footsteps and to be fair, fearless, considerate, determined, sometimes stubborn yet still elegant, but most of all kindhearted lady.

It is hard for us to imagine life without her because we’ve never known a day without her joy. Nana was the best part of my day, every day, and…Ironically, she was my alarm clock. “Making her rounds.” as she would say. After many of her attempts I would get up and hear either the sound of the vacuum cleaner, the news or Bonazana and usually the coffee pot perking along. She loved her coffee, and always offered our guests a fresh cup. But my favorite sound was when I would catch her humming along to classical music as she was getting ready. I loved to hear her sing, her dream was to sing in the choir here. I miss the scent of her baby magic lotion, that kept her skin porcelain soft, and forever young. I also adored her favorite perfume that she eventually, and so politely, gifted me my own bottle. But the greatest of gift of all was her bravery during her years of illness, she never gave into self-pity, never put herself first, she loved unconditionally and selflessly. And that’s the kind of woman I aspire to be.
Thank you Nana, for loving me. I love you too.

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your loved one. Comfort and a sure hope can come from God’s Word, the Bible –2 Corinthians 1:3, 4. Jesus promises that one day he is going to bring back to life all those who have died –John 5:28, 29. Death is not only an “enemy” to us, but also an enemy to God–1 Corinthians 15:26. The Bible tells us that one day God is going to remove forever all pain, suffering, and death that mankind has experienced for thousands of years –Revelation 21:3-5. Then you may be able to rejoice with your loved one again forever, “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ ” -John 17:3
