Jessie Asbury Layton, 74, of Westford, MA, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died December 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.He was married to Cathleen E. (Tompkins) Layton with whom he celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this past June. Born in Waltham on December 31, 1943 the son of the late Jessie and Elizabeth (Malloy) Layton, he was a graduate of Billerica High School with the class of 1961.He retired from I.U.O.E Local 4 of Boston in 2008. Jessie was the proud owner of C.J. Trucking Co. of Westford.He enjoyed working on cars and spending time in his garage; he was a great repairman that could fix anything.Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Daniel Layton of Lowell, and David and his wife, Ellen Layton of Lowell; daughters, Darlene Rayne of Spring Hill, FL, and Denene and her husband, Shawn Hurteau of Shirley, MA; best friend for the last ten years Jason James Hurteau, brothers, Charles and his wife, Diane Layton of St. Johnsbury, VT, Francis Smith of Cape Cod, MA, and Michael David Smith of Cape Cod, MA; sisters, Elizabeth and her husband, Theodor Mathews of Carver MA, Deivada and her husband, Morris Pelotte of Littleton, NH, Diane and her husband, Timothy Dozier of Zephyrhills, FL, Charliene and her husband, Jeffrey Gomes of Monroe, NH; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours Monday 3 to 6 P.M. with a service at 6 P.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
