John M.”Pa” Silva, 99, of Seabrook, NH and Dennis MA formerly of Lowell laid down the burden of advance aging and found peace early Thursday morning, July 19, 2018 at Westford House in Westford, MA.
He was married to the late Claire (Owens) Silva, who died on January 11, 1997.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Louis and Urania Silva. He graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1936.
John retired in 1985 from High Voltage Engineering Corp. of Burlington where he was the supervisor of maintenance. He had previously worked as a loom fixer for New Market Mills of Lowell.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church of Lowell.
John was a former resident of Lowell.
He is survived by his son, David Silva of Seabrook, NH; daughter, Linda Leney of Dennis, MA and Kathy Silva of Londonderry, NH; two grandchildren Kyle Silva and Amanda and her husband, David Chanon; and three great grandchildren, Ella, Claire, and Jack Chanon. He is also survived by extended family including the Quadros Family who was dear to his heart as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Manuel Silva and Georgina Quadros and the father-in-law of the late Janice Silva of Westford.
Visiting hours Sun. 1 to 4 P.M. Funeral Mon. at 8am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9am at St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1 Bullfinch Pl., 2nd Fl., Boston, MA 02114. “Johnny” was my mom’s (Marion Bettencourt Ozana) Godfather. In their ‘senior years’, my mom, and especially her sister Fran, spent many happy days with Johnny, with lots of laughter, good times and great memories. They’re all celebrating together again in Heaven. R.I.P. Johnny.

Pa, we will miss you dearly. You were such a bright and loving person. Thank you for your warmth, sincerity, and your forever joking personality. You welcomed us all to the beach to play with Amanda when we were little, and later in life, you welcomed our families. You helped us feel like we were part of your family so much so that we all called you Pa! We will miss your smile and laughter and hope you are now feeling tremendous peace as you are surrounded by the loving presence of Claire and Jan and so many wonderful family and friends who have passed on. To Dave, Amanda, and your families – sending my love to you during this difficult time of saying goodbye to your dear Pa. His legend lives on through your warmth, kindness, and generosity. What a full, rich life he lived!
