Everyone has a best friend in life. Joe Colombo and I grew up a few houses away from each other in the Highland section of Lowell. We graduated Lowell High School together and enlisted in the service together and graduated from Lowell Tech together and hunted together. Everywhere we went, Joe always introduced me to everyone as his best friend, right up to the very end. He was my best friend and the best friend that anyone could ever have. We will miss him greatly!

The Lowell High School class of 1951 is terribly saddened of the passing of our classmate, Joe.
It was wonderful to see him at our Class Reunion 5 years ago, and to hear how content he was with his life.
This is a great loss and my heart goes out to the Colombo family.
    Rest in Peace Joe.

Having worked with Joe for numerous years at Puget Sound Det and Supship Boston and can say he was a joy to work with and definitely one of a kind. I first met Joe at Boston Naval Shipyard and being from the old school of those that served in the Navy during war he was able to teach me a great deal over the years. I send my deepest condolences for your and our loss.
