Karen Anne Berglund, 77, of Chelmsford, MA died Saturday, July 3, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Arlington, MA on July 17, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Leighton and Betty (Richardson) Foster. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1961. She was also a graduate of Middlesex Community College with a Medical Secretary degree.
She retired from Genesis Healthcare.
Karen was a member of Immanuel Church of Chelmsford, MA and attended the United Baptist Church of Old Town, ME in person and virtually over the years.
Family was everything for her, and she especially loved spending time with and talking about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Karen truly loved the theater and was an active part of the Burlington Players for many years – helping with costumes and props, managing the box office and acting! As an official Lifetime Member, she attended plays with her family for decades. Karen also loved games and time with friends. She will be missed by the Scrabble and Cards groups at the Chelmsford Senior Center as well as her Saturday Morning Salon Friends at Delaney Terrace.
She is survived by her son Scott and wife Sheryl Berglund of Chelmsford, her daughter Lisa Morin of Veazie, ME, and her sisters Beverly and her husband Edward Sugrue of Arlington, Janice and her late husband Ronald Tirone of Westford, Donna and her husband Thomas Revane of Hoosick Falls, NY, and bonus sister Trish Briggs of Tewksbury, along with grandchildren Brian, Craig, Corinna, Megan, Devan, Bailey and our Angel in Heaven Ariel, great-grandchildren Adelle and Angelina and many nieces and nephews.
Karen lived a full and independent life at Delaney Terrace thanks to her many beloved caregivers. Her family would like to especially thank Verlie, Nelida, Dot, Cindy, Crystal, Vivian, Patty, Meritza, Brenda, Marty and many others for their tender loving care. They brightened her days and allowed her to live an amazing life.
Karen will be remembered by all for her magnificent laugh, positive outlook on life, and never-ending love for others.
We will gather at 11:00 am with services beginning at 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 15 at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD. Please wear purple in Karen’s honor, and bring any afghans made by her loving hands. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in her name to the Burlington Players (P.O. Box 433, Burlington, MA 01803) and Chelmsford Senior Center (75 Groton Road, North Chelmsford, MA 01863).

I had the pleasure of meeting Karen through nights at the Burlington Players Theater and some family gatherings. She was a strong lovely person who always had a positive attitude and brought smiles to your face. May she be at peace and bring smiles to those above ??

I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Karen when delivering her Meals on Wheels….She also enjoyed when my husband, Dan, delivered to her also….I had many chats with Karen about Arlington because that is where I was from originally…May you rest in peace, Karen….
