Kathryn Ann (Grieco) Tarsitano, 99, of Westford

Kathryn Ann (Grieco) Tarsitano, 99, of Westford, left this world peacefully on May 28, 2021 at her home in Westford, her family and friends by her side. She was the widow of the late Adelmo J. Tarsitano.

Born in Trenton NJ, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Kate (LaGuardia) Grieco. Kathryn was educated in the New York School System and graduated from Newtown High School in Corona, NY.

A war bride, she and her husband Adelmo- (Del) built their first home in Valley Stream, Long Island. Kathryn became a part of a very tight knit community, and enjoyed raising her children, sharing time with friends, and seeing family. She was a great cook and often made elaborate Sunday family dinners.

Late in life her husband pursued his interest in creating artwork and she supported his efforts. After Adelmo’s death in 1991 Kathryn moved to Chelmsford, MA near her daughter Debbie. There she established friendships and lived happily for nearly thirty years.

In her free time, Kathryn enjoyed reading, and listening to music, (She was a big Frank Sinatra fan). She especially loved finishing difficult crossword puzzles completing the New York Times puzzle each week. In her 90’s she began making beautiful beaded jewelry, giving it away to family and friends. Kathryn read at least two books a week. She loved to attend local book sales and was often their best customer, leaving with several bags full. She was known throughout the family as an excellent baker and collected many hundreds of recipes over the years trying most of them. She started each day with Catholic television’s daily mass and rosary and ended the day watching her favorite shows.

Kathryn enjoyed a wonderful childhood often reminiscing about her dear parents and siblings, now deceased, Mike Detrio, Anthony Detrio, and Rosemarie Lo Castro.

She was a devoted mother and loved her children raising them to be accomplished adults. Frank Tarsitano and his wife Dorothea of Youngsville, North Carolina, Samuel Tarsitano and his wife Kari of Blackstone, MA and Debbie Tarsitano – Stankard and her husband Martin of Westford, MA.  Kathryn also raised her niece Dianne Jividen of Miramar, Florida considering her like a daughter.  She enjoyed and loved her grandchildren living to see great grandchildren. Kathryn had a good life with excellent health throughout always looking younger then her years. She looked beautiful to the end. Many people loved her, and she gave them love in return for nearly one hundred years. She will be missed.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation at 8 O’clock on Friday, June 4^th, 2021 at the Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex St. Chelmsford, MA. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 9am at St. Mary’s Church, Chelmsford.
