Lorraine (Carney) Garthe, of Lowell, formerly of Chelmsford, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. She was 50.
Born on March 5, 1967 in Boston, she was the daughter of Gladys Carney Chaput of N. Chelmsford and the late Kenneth Carney.
Lorraine was known by everyone as being a very thoughtful person, always caring and attentive to those around her. She recently was asked to assist with the opioid crisis in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including working with people dealing with recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
Her other passion was to become an instructor in Reiki. Only a few weeks ago she celebrated the completion of classes for which she earned her certification as a Reiki Instruction.
She leaves her son, Richard Garthe III and his wife, Ravilla Garthe of Tyngsboro; grandson, Richard Garthe IV; granddaughter, Gabriella; siblings, James and his wife, Briae Carney of Nashua, NH, Scott Carney of Scottsdale, AZ, Deborah and her husband, Robert Kodesh of Derry, NH and Daniel and his wife Brenda Carney of Concord, NH; several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Visiting hours Wed. 4 to 7 P.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Her Funeral Service will be Thurs. at 11am at United Methodist Church, 10 Church St., Westford, MA 01886. its with a very sadden heart i am so so sorry for your loss . Last conversation Lorriane and i had was over my grandmother .. She will be so missed , I was so proud to have been able to spend drum corp days with lorraine traving all over and just having a grand ole time.. Rest in peace my Sister ..gone way to early .. To Jim and Carney and Garthe Family, with the Loss of Lorraine has brought such sadness to my heart. I remember spending so many great times with Lorraine I in the Buccaneers Drum Corps where I met her And her brother Jim. Lorraine was a Wonderful Girlfriend and Person to be with. Lorraine was Always there to help people in need! She is an Angel! I know this is very Difficult Time for her Family. She is now going to look over all of us with her Blessings. Lorraine was such a caring and loving person. Always there for you when she could. God has gained another angel who is gonna watch over us from up above. I remember as kids Lorraine set up a huge haunted house for all the kids in the neighborhood to join. She was such a great woman. she is going to missed dearly. I’m soooo sorry for your loss Ricky she is always gonna be with you.
