Mrs. Maria Adelina Caires of Lowell, MA died Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at her home.
She was married to the late Mr. Jorge Caires who died on July 13, 2020.
Born in Madeira Portugal, February 20, 1943 the daughter of Joao Sobrinho and Maria Quintal of Madeira Portugal.
Maria Adelina was employed as a stitcher with Lowell Lingerie and also worked at Tewksbury State Hospital.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Lowell, MA. Maria and her husband Jorge were well known as Duo Caires, the the Portuguese singers and song writers.
Maria Adelina is survived by a son, John and his wife Fatinha (Duarte) Caires; three grandchildren, Jake Caires and Kassidy Caires both of Hudson, NH; and Kaylah and her husband Matthew Canarelli of Raleigh North Carolina; a brother, Graciano Sobrinho and his wife Graca of Madeira, Portugal; two sisters, Maria Jose and her husband Vasco Nobrega of Toronto, Canada and Maria Do Rosario and her husband Fernado Ferreira of South Africa; and a sister-in-law, Esperanca Sobrinho of Madeira, Portugal.
She was the brother of the late Jose Sobrinho of Madeira, Portugal.
Visiting hours Sun. 1 to 5 p.m. Funeral Mon. at 9am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10am at St. Anthony Church in Lowell. Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA. Memorials may be made in her name to the St. Anthony Church, 893 Central St, Lowell, MA 01852-3407. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
