Marilyn Leno, 78, of Chelmsford, MA died Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Lowell, MA surrounded by her loving family.

She was married to her beloved late husband Robert Leno.
Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Albert Witts and Alice (Lewkowicz) Witts.
She graduated from Lowell High School, Lowell, MA, with the class of 1962.

She was a tenured employee of the IRS in Lowell, MA from which she eventually retired. Her favorite job though, was raising her daughters.
Marilyn was a woman of God and communicant of St. John’s Church, North Chelmsford, MA.
She enjoyed doing crafts and going to Foxwoods with her two sisters, Judith Shields of Lowell, MA and late Marcia Desilets also of Lowell, MA. The three sisters were always sure to be close by one another laughing and making memories together. She was also close to her two late nephews Jimmy Mullen and Jimmy Shields.

Marilyn frequently dined out and spent time with her family, who remarked her by the loving nickname, “Grammy”. She enjoyed travelling to the White Mountains and Vermont, often visiting her dear friend Peter Ricciardi or staying at the Indian Head Resort with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca and Robert Cove, of North Chelmsford, MA, Julie and Paul Capone of Bedford, MA and Maryann and Keith Hughes of Thomaston, GA. She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, Thomas and his wife Brenna Cove, A. Ryan and his wife Anastasia Cove, Alyssa Capone, Alaina Capone, Joseph Capone and great-grandchild, Margaret Cove. She will be remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews by her other nickname “Auntie”.

Mal, You always had a place in my heart, with years of babysitting and friendship that followed. Your girls know I will always be there for them. We always loved your direct observations through the years and will always be remembered. Give Bob my love and Rest In Peace together <3 Elaine and Dermot

I just learned of Marilyn’s passing. Our friendship goes back many years and I will be forever grateful for having known her and her wonderful family. Marilyn was smart, extremely generous and probably the funniest person I ever knew. Her quick wit and “can do” attitude were always there and carried me through some difficult times. Although we lost touch in recent years, she will be in my heart always, To Becky, Julie, and all who loved her, I extend my deepest sympathy. I picture her in heaven laughing with Bob and all those she lost.
