Maureen M. (Bigley) (Cossette) Gelinas, 77, of N. Chelmsford, MA died early Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, MA.
She was married to Mr. Claude R. Gelinas with whom she enjoyed many happy years together.
Maureen was the daughter of the late Leo and Harriet Bigley. She attended Lowell High School and continued her education in the medical field.
Maureen retired from Trinity Ambulance of Lowell. She was previously employed with Nashoba Valley Technical High School of Westford, MA and several medical facilities throughout the greater Lowell area.
She was a former communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA.
For many years, Maureen was very involved with the Merrimack Valley Golden Buccaneers and she also enjoyed reading and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family camping at Hopeville.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kristen Cossette of Chelmsford; three sons, Roland and his wife, Kim Cossette of Merrimack, NH, Robert “Chip” Cossette of N. Chelmsford, and Darren and his wife, Christine Cossette of N. Chelmsford; a step daughter, Michelle and her husband, Mark Leininger of Keene, NH; a step son, Michael and his wife, Cheryl Gelinas of Harmony, FL; a sister, Judith Bigley of Merrimack, NH; two brothers, Leo “Butch” Bigley of N. Chelmsford, MA, and Paul Bigley of Nashua, NH; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Ag Bigley of Nashua, NH, wife of Maureen’s late brother John “Jack” Bigley.
Maureen’s visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 7pm at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. At her request, there will not be a funeral service. Cremation to follow at Merrimack Cremation Service in Merrimack, NH. Memorials may be made in her name to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 6 Boston Road, Suite 203 A, Chelmsford, MA 01824– web address www.hdsa.org/donate.
