Michael Wilson Gust, 59, a loving husband and father, and a longtime resident of Westford, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Arbors, Bedford, NH, following a long struggle with Younger Onset Alzheimer’s disease.
He was married to Amy Gust with whom he would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on Sept. 15th .
Born July 23, 1957, in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late John and Joan (Gaspar) Gust.
He graduated from Salamanca High School with the class of 1975, Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and the University of Maryland with a Master’s Degree in Engineering Materials.
Michael was employed with Mercury Computer Systems as the Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager for 15 years before his illness.
He was the holder of multiple patents. He loved running, fishing, traveling, listening to music, and coaching youth sports.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Kasey Marie Gust Hudson and her husband, Matthew Robert Hudson of Cincinnati, OH, and Vreni Englert Gust and her fiancé Matthew William Young of White River Junction, VT; a sister, Dianne Gaddis of Manassas, VA; many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends.
Mike’s family would like to thank the staff of The Arbors of Bedford, Fairview Healthcare, Brookhaven Hospice and all of the other wonderful professional caregivers that cared for Mike over the last few years.
Memorial Service May 26th at 2:00 at First Parish Church 48 Main St. Westford, MA 01886.
