Nancy J. (Scott) Knight, 82, of North Chelmsford, MA, died Sunday January 24, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Lowell, MA on February 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Edith Scott. Nancy was raised in Lowell, graduated from Lowell High School in 1951 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Lowell Teacher’s College.
Nancy taught at the North and South Row Elementary Schools in Chelmsford for more than 25 years. She was a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Lowell Folk Festival and was an Interpreter in Special Exhibits at the Boston Museum of Science. Nancy served as a Chelmsford Town Meeting Representative and Library Trustee, and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford.
Nancy is survived by her son, Christopher Knight and his wife Audrey, of Harpswell ME; and grandchildren Eric and Ana Knight also of Harpswell. Her son, Jonathan Knight, predeceased her.
There will be no visiting hours. Graveside Services will be held on February 10, 2016 at noon at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, 96 River Neck Road, Chelmsford, MA. For those that wish, Memorials may be made in her name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

For Christopher, Audrey, Eric, and Ana; sending you my sincere sympathies and on the passing of your beloved Mother and Grandmother. She was a dear friend of my mother, Lorraine, and my family as well. I recall her hearty laugh and gift of conversation. As well, her quick wit and quiet kindness. And I do recall her sharing your part of paradise ~ Dingley Island ~ with Mom and another friend. She is with your brother now and those that she has loved, but beautiful memories shall ~ I hope ~ assuage any grief that you may be experiencing. Know that it was a distinct pleasure and honor to call her my friend.

To the loving family of Nancy Knight; I have known your mom since my kids were in North School many years ago. My mom, Mrs Pauline Breen worked with her for a very long time. I will especially miss my bi-monthly “chats” and family news updates as I cleaned her house! Her hermits were something to remember for sure, as she shared them with so many people. I will deeply miss her and cherish the laughs we shared together over the many years that I worked for her. She spoke highly of you and loved you dearly, her beloved family.
