Paul J. Bastien, 76, of Lowell died surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Lowell General Hospital.
He was married to Joanne L. Bastien with whom he celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on November 6, 2017.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late L. Paul and Gertrude Bastien. He graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1959 and earned an Associate’s degree in business administration from Newbury College.
He proudly served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era.
Paul worked for many years as a computer engineer for the Digital Corporation in Merrimack, NH. In recent years he worked as a consultant for Fidelity of Merrimack NH.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where he served for many years as the head trustee and as an usher.
Paul was a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do Karate and he was a lifelong resident of Lowell
Besides his wife he is survived by his two sons, Paul Jr. and his wife, Laurie Bastien of Pembroke, MA and Jason Bastien of Marshfield, MA; a daughter, Renee Pape of Lowell; brothers, Ronald and his wife, Eileen Bastien of Manchester, NH and Michael Bastien of Hudson, NH; grandchildren, Alexander Pape, Stephen Pape, Madison Pape, Ryan Pape, Jenna Bastien and Matthew Bastien and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Fri. 4 to 8 P.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, MA. Funeral Service Sat. at 10A.M. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1195 Varnum Ave. Lowell, MA.
