5784 McManimon 3Richard Brian McManimon, 58, of Westford, MA passed away peacefully on Thursday May 5, 2016 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, after valiantly living with brain cancer for 8 months. His resolve, spirit, and courage were inspirational to all who knew and loved him.

Born in Methuen, MA, he was the beloved son of Irene (Sitko) McManimon of Reading, MA and the late Robert C. McManimon. He was raised in Chelmsford and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School, Class of 1975. He earned his BS in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in 1981. He was a member of the Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity.

He held Senior Sales Executive and Sales Manager positions at a number of firms in the print industry during his 35 year career, most notably Winbrook Inc. and Moore Corporation (R.R. Donnelley), in addition to various other firms. He was an intelligent and engaging sales executive, enjoying the challenges of his work, and gaining the trust and respect of his colleagues and clients.

Richard was passionate about the Boy Scouts of America, holding positions as a Boy Scout Leader and Merit Badge Counselor with Boy Scout Troop 159 in Westford. He was the proud father of 4 Eagle Scouts, who spoke lovingly and enthusiastically about all of their achievements, with everyone he met.

Richard was a true New Englander. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed a good Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox game. Richard enjoyed many treasured moments with his family at Lake Winnipesaukee and Salisbury Beach. He enjoyed the changing seasons, in particular the fall and winter months. He was a passionate hiker, who shared his love of hiking, with his sons. He loved snowshoeing and winter camping.  He found peace by the ocean, whether he was just relaxing by the water, enjoying a beautiful sunset, sailing, kayaking or diving.  He cherished the Boy Scout Sea Base sailing trips he took with each of his sons, in the Florida Keys and the Bahamas.

He was an avid reader – history and military history were his passion. He enjoyed a good Dunkin Donuts coffee, an Irish Whiskey, and an engaging conversation.

He volunteered for the Wounded Warrior Project, Mass. Dept. of Conservation & Recreation at Callahan Park and Sudbury Valley of Trustees. He also volunteered for Toys for Tots and was a Town League Baseball Coach, when his children were young.

In addition to his mother, Richard leaves his beloved family, Karen (Woolfall) McManimon of Lowell; four cherished sons, Brian F. McManimon of Newton, Kevin P. McManimon, Steven P. McManimon and Eric T. McManimon all of Lowell; three loving sisters and their husbands, Susan and Peter Roy of Chelmsford,  Paula and John McCormick of Westford, Carolyn and John O’Brien of Reading; his cousin-in-law, Jack DeCourcy of Andover; his mother in-law, Lillian Woolfall of Lowell; his brother in-law and wife, David and Donna Woolfall of Haverhill;  and was the proud uncle of Jennifer Roy, Melissa Roy, Kathryn O’Brien and Matthew Woolfall.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Alois & Mary Sitko; paternal grandparents James & Sadie McManimon; aunts and uncles, Peter & Eugenia Kusnerski, Emelia & William Kania; cousin Dianne (Kania) DeCourcy; father in-law Frederick Woolfall and their son Frederick Woolfall Jr.
