Richard “Dick” Thomas McClellan, 89, of South Chelmsford, MA died Sunday evening, April 2, 2017 at Palm Center, Chelmsford.

He was married to the late Mrs. Theresa (Dolan) who died June 18, 1982.

Born in Cambridge, MA on November 25, 1927, the son of the late William and Dora (Gibson) McClellan. He was a graduate of Arlington High School with the class of 1946.

He served with the U.S. Army Occupation of Japan and served in the Korean War.

He was employed with NYNEX, NTNEX and New England Telephone for 32 years. In his retirement, he worked at Dolan Industries of Clinton, MA.

He was a communicant of St. Mary Church of Chelmsford, MA.

He was a member of the Chelmsford Country Club, the Chelmsford Elks, Chelmsford Rod & Gun Club all of Chelmsford, and the H.E. Fletcher Club of Westford, MA. He also enjoyed traveling and playing golf.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathleen McClellan Jr. of Tewksbury and Michael McClellan of Peoria, AZ, two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah and David Amos of Westford, MA and Karen McClellan of Chelmsford, five grandchildren, Tim and his wife Heather Bellemore, Kiley, Cady, and Sean McClellan, and Adam and his wife, Sarah McClellan; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Anna, Colin, Owen, Charlotte as well as many nieces and nephews.

Richard was the brother of the late William and Robert McClellan and the late Kathleen Griffin.

Visiting hours Thurs. 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Fri. at 8am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9am at St. Mary Church in Chelmsford, MA.     Steve and I are so sorry for the loss of everyone’s beloved Dick/Granddaddy, he will be missed by so many. We’re happy he’s out of pain and resting in peace, he’s too nice a person to be suffering.
