Robert (Bob) A. Charbonneau, 86, of Lowell, Massachusetts, succumbed to complications from dementia at the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on July 5th 2023.

Bob was born on November 21st 1936 in Lowell Massachusetts the son of the late Albert and Mildred (Gobin) Charbonneau, brother of  the late Gerald Charbonneau (2014) and his wife, Pauline ( 2016) of Hudson NH, Roland and his late wife Annette, Pearl, Paul, Claire (Charbonneau) Nagle and her husband Paul, Richard and his wife Lucille, of Milford NH and the late Gloria Charbonneau.

He is survived by his wife Frances of 65 years. His children Marc and Marilyn Charbonneau of Bedford NH, Anne (Charbonneau) and James Shea of Nashua NH, Brenda (Charbonneau) and John Regan of Nashua NH and Robert Charbonneau Jr., of Lowell Ma. His grandchildren Sarah (Charbonneau) Sullivan and her husband Dr. Conor Sullivan, Mitchell Charbonneau, Olivia (Regan) Bilodeau and her husband Jared, Erica Regan, Alec Regan and his fiancée Abby Hearn-Gordy, Owen Shea, Jeena Shea and Wyatt Charbonneau.

Bob was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

Bob was a veteran, serving in the Army from 1959 to 1962, stationed in Germany during the Berlin Wall crisis. One of his favorite duties was driving the General around in an Army Jeep.

He was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Early in life, Bob learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in us.  He was a man of strong faith and he taught us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right.

Bob worked for the Raytheon company for 40 years, working in Production Control. Bob was like a human spreadsheet, working tirelessly to track all of the components needed to build Raytheon’s missile products. He was recognized and awarded many times for his extraordinary work ethic.

He loved sports, especially basketball and football.  His favorite teams were the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. If he wasn’t watching sports he was working around the house or painting his house. He loved bowling in the Notre Dame de Lourdes bowling league, jogging and volunteering with a group of parents, known as the Highland Players, that he would sing with during charity events for the Lowell Little League.

A special thank you to the people at Beacon Hospice Care for their loving care and support during his final days.

A funeral mass will be held at St Margaret of Scotland Church in Lowell on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 10am. With a procession to St Joseph’s Cemetery  following the mass.
