Robert R. White, Esq. 75, of Pelham, NH a well-known Lowell attorney died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home.
He was married to Evelyn M. White with whom he would have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on May 30, 2019.
Born in Starke, FL, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Betty White. Robert earned a B.S. in Business Administration at the Old Dominion University of Norfolk, VA and a Juris Doctor at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.
He proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Robert was a practicing attorney having his own firm in Lowell.
He was a member and former President of the Exchange Club of Lowell, a member of the Marine Corps League of Lowell and a former Vice Commandant of the National Marine Corps League.
Robert was a Sargent of the 1812 Marine Guard of the USS Constitution.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Neva Leigh White and her spouse Jill Blake of Virginia Beach, VA and Julianne and her husband, Steve Girolamo of Dracut, MA; four step-children, Derek Glaude, Kathryne and her husband, Dennis Kinney, Angela and her husband, Jamie Gitschier, and Natalie and her husband, Hakan Dinler; two grandchildren, Angela Grace and Luca Cole Girolamo; ten step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late L. Thomas White of Boston, John White of Puerto Rico and Martha E. Farrell of Lowell.
Visiting hours Wed. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Thurs. at 10am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Church, Chelmsford. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I’ll never forget Robert’s kindness and welcoming when I came to Lowell. He was a big part of my success in developing my practice. I am truly beholden to him professionally.
But even more than the professional collegiality he showed me is the great friendship that developed. From our incredible rafting trips together(“with Marlene you only need to say’ voulez vous’, she know the rest”), to Robert’s incredible displays of generosity(he was handed me his check book and said write what you need), to recent times of interacting daily in court and around town, I feel such a sense of loss.
I’m in California babysitting for my grandson but I wanted to let you know that I truly feel the loss of my friend. What an odd couple we were.
I don’t have your phone # or I would have called to offer my condolences.

A good man and loyal friend, who marched to his own drum and sense of right and wrong. Evelyn, I and Albert Marcotte and Rick Lalime are truly sorry. He was always there to give help and advice, especially early in my and Rick’s careers, and I will miss trying to get him to break from his “game face”.

My deepest sympathy to Bob’s family. He was a formidable force at the Butler
school in Lowell MA, when he attended my Veteran’s Day Assemblies. He spoke
with a booming voice to the students and they all loved him. He always ended
his speech with a big OOHH…RAAHHHHH!!! The students enjoyed him so much.
Thankyou for your service Mr. White. It was always a pleasure to have you
visit us at the Butler. Rest in peace…..Semper Fi!

Condolences to the White family. Bob was a kind and loyal friend to me when I returned to Lowell after an early
stint in the Marine Corps as a judge advocate. He was extremely generous with his time and energy to the MCL of Lowell. He lived the ethos “Semper Fidelis” and I will miss him. RIP Marine. You will find the gates of heaven are guarded by
U.S. Marines who will welcome you to everlasting peace.

I apologize for being unable to attend visiting hours or the service as I had a bad cold over Christmas. I will always remember Bob for his kindness and generosity in allowing me a place to hang out my shingle as I tried to hold my practice together during hard times. I know he had been taken in by Henry during rough times. He spoke of Henry with reverence. I also greatly respected his service to the USMC and the Marine Guard on the Constitution. Although I am sad to say that our relationship ended badly, I never lost my underlying respect for the man and what he overcame and accomplished in life.
