Ronald M. “Stew” Mulligan, 63, of Lowell died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Mass General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Marie Mulligan. He graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1972.
He proudly served with the U.S. Air Force and with the U.S. Navy during the 1970’s.
Ronald retired from the Lowell Post Office in 2009. In his retirement years, he worked at the Rite Aid in Tewksbury.
He enjoyed playing football and was an avid Boston Sports fan, He also participated and operated “Stew’s” fantasy football league for thirty years.
He is survived by his three sons, Shane Mulligan of Dracut, Ryan Plummer of Tewksbury and Kevin Plummer of Lowell; four brothers, John J. and his wife, Sandra Mulligan of Clinton, UT, Kevin B Mulligan of Salt Lake City, UT, Thomas A. and his wife, Diana Mulligan of Plymouth, MA and Wayne A. and his wife, Kelly Mulligan of Nashua, NH; two sisters, Karen and her husband, Ronald Brassard of Nashua, NH and Sharen and her husband, Joseph Valorse of Midlothian, VA; former wives, Sharon Mulligan of Dracut and Michelle Page of Belfast, Ireland; two grandchildren, Ava and Winter Plummer and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Richard V. Mulligan, Edward F. Mulligan, Jr., Grady R. Mulligan, Donald R. Mulligan and Raymond P. Mulligan.
Visiting hours Tues. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Wed. at 10 A.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Memorials may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial at a later date in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell.
