Ruth Emily (Tully) Choate, 97, of Tyngsboro formerly of Dunstable died surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Northwood Nursing Home in Lowell.

She was married to Fred A. Choate with whom she would have celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary on September 28, 2017.

Born in Dunstable, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Tully. She graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1937 and earned an Associate Degree from the Nashua School of Business.

Ruth was a clerk for the US Post Office in Tyngsboro. She had previously worked for Parlee Farm in Tyngsboro. In her early years she worked for the Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro.

She was a member of the Tyngsboro Evangelical Church.

Ruth was a member of the Grange of Dunstable, the Tyngsboro

4-H Club, the Eastern Star of Lowell and was the last surviving charter member of the American Legion Women Auxiliary Post 247 of Tyngsboro.

She was a proud longtime resident of Tyngsboro.

Besides her husband she is survived by her son, Richard and his wife, Elizabeth Choate of Tyngsboro; daughter, Janet and her husband, Henry Fontaine of Dunstable; daughter-in-law, Joyce Choate of Ellenton, FL; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late James Choate of Hudson, NH who passed away in 1983.

Her friends and family are invited to visitation on Mon. July 17th at 11:30A.M-12:30P.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Funeral Service at 1P.M. at the Dunstable Evangelical Congregational Church, 518 Main Street, Dunstable, MA. Burial in the Central Cemetery, Dunstable.
