Thomas Buretta, 85 passed away peacefully on 04/20/2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Deborah (Furtado) Buretta, with whom he has spent the last 8 years together. Thomas was preceded by death by Christina (Lothrop) Buretta who passed away in July, 2014. Thomas is survived by his four children and two step-children: Larry Buretta and his wife Kathleen (Sullivan) Buretta of Milford, NH; Julie (Buretta) Perkins and husband David of York, ME; Amy (Buretta) Garside and husband Andrew of Groton, MA; David Buretta and wife Donna (O’Neil) of Littleton, MA; David Salyer and wife Shawnna (Prendergast) Salyer of Salem, NH; Michelle Dumont of Port Richey, FL; 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, WI in June, 1957. Upon completion of high school, Thomas Joined the United States Air Force and was Honorably discharged in 1962. He retired in 2004 from MIT (Lincoln Labs), Westford, MA where he worked as an Engineering Technician.
He was a long-time member of West Chelmsford United Methodist Church and a former member of their choir. He was the President on the board of Directors and an active volunteer at the Open Pantry of Greater Lowell until he retired in October of 2022.
In his final months, he had the opportunity to be served by the wonderful aides and nurses of Tufts Medicine Care at Home. Arlene and Marjorie worked tirelessly to ensure Thomas’ comfort and safety. His family is so very appreciative of the doctors and nurses who have treated him so attentively at Tufts LGH OCU department, as well as Rev. Geisa Matos for her support during his illness.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating Thomas’ life on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:30am at the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church, 242 Main St., Chelmsford, MA.

I’m sorry to hear the news Tom had passed away. I am sure he is pain free and in heaven. Tom was a part of my growing up.
