5856 dONNELLYThomas “Duke” Donnelly, 85, of Chelmsford died Friday August 12, 2016 at his home with his family at his side.

He was the husband of Madeleine F. (Lynch) Donnelly with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 25th.

Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Hugh J. and Ellen (McDowell) Donnelly. He was raised in Lowell and attended St. Michael’s School and Lowell High School.

A Veteran of the Korean War, he served in the US Marine Corps attaining the rank of Corporal.

Tom worked for Raytheon Company at the Waltham Facility for over 39 years.

He was an avid sportsman, playing in the City of Lowell Softball League. He also enjoyed bowling and playing golf, participating in the Wipple Memorial Golf Classic.

Tom was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish in Chelmsford and a member of the Guild of St. Clare.

Thomas, known to his family and friends as “Duke”, will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Thomas H. Donnelly of Chelmsford; his brothers in-law, George P. Lynch and his wife Rita of Florida and Donald E. Connolly of Leominster; sisters in-law, Mary (Sugden) Lynch of Lowell, MA and Mary (Yang) Lynch of Londonderry, NH; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Murphy and her husband Joseph, Helen Moulton and her husband Melvin; brother, Hugh J. Donnelly, brothers in-law, Thomas Lynch, Camille Lynch and Peter H. Lynch and his wife Florence, and sister in-law, Lorraine Connolly; his nephew and godson, David Moulton and nephew Richard Murphy.

Visiting hour Tuesday morning August 16, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church 25 North Rd Chelmsford. Burial St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Thomas’s memory can be made to Monastery of St. Clare 445 River Rd. Andover, MA 01810 or Lowell Transitional Living Center, Attn Director of Development, 205-209 Middlesex St. Lowell, MA 01852.
