Ruth M. (Carnes) Tocci, 89, of Peabody formerly of Lexington died Saturday afternoon, May 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was married to the late Valentino Tocci, who died on September 30, 2015.
Born in Everett, MA, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Barbara Carnes. She graduated from Everett High School with the class of 1946.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was a communicant of St. Brigid Church in Lexington.
Ruth enjoyed ballroom dancing and rummikub. She was a faithful member of her Bible Study group.
She is survived by her six sons, John and his wife, Lila Tocci of Lexington, Michael and his wife, Barbara Tocci of Newburyport, William Tocci of Seabrook, NH, Daniel Tocci of Long Beach, CA, Valentino Tocci Jr. and his wife, Joanne Tocci of Boxford, MA and Rev. Laurence Tocci of Hudson, MA; two daughters, Valerie and her husband, Paul Notartomaso of Palm Beach FL and Cynthia Tocci of North Hollywood, CA; sister, Belle Cosgrove of Peabody, MA; twenty three grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Robert Carnes of Peabody.
Visiting hours will be Thurs. 3 to 7 P.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. A Mass of Christian burial will be Fri. at 11am at St. Brigid Church, 2001 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA. Please meet at Church. Burial in the Westview Cemetery, Lexington. Hello Tocci family. Patti and I were so sorry to hear about Ruth’s passing. One of the great Mom’s in the neighborhood who had a great influence on us all growing up. She’s dancing with Val now.

In our wedding video about once every 20 seconds Mr and Mrs Tocci would “swing into sight”, twirling and laughing and going around for another round on the dance floor. A great neighborhood house to visit with the tennis courts transformed into a hockey rink and the clubhouse on top of the tool shed. Great, great memories and your Mom was central to them. Fantastic lady.
